Gibbs Tiffany & Company Underhammer Pistol, c. 1830s-40s, .31 caliber, walnut grip, iron back strap, marked on the top strap in front of the rear sight with an eagle and "GIBBS TIFFANY & CO./STURBRIDGE, MASS.," marked on the octagonal section of the barrel "E.HUTCHINGS & CO./AGENTS-BALT'O.," and "CAST-STEEL," barrel lg. 5 3/4, overall lg. 9 3/4 in. Provenance: The collection of Nick Chandler. Estimate $200-400 Some small cracks in the grip, the rear back strap screw is loose, steel is gray with some scattered light pitting, and the lock functions properly.
