Six Cowdy Glass Workshop Plates and Three Bowls, England, c. 1990, two medium gold bowls, a large pink bowl, a green plate, two gold plates, two pink plates, and two blue plates, three plates in boxes, all marked and labeled, plate approx. dia. 5 1/2, bowl dia. 7, 7, 9, bowl ht. 4, 4, 5 in. Note: Cowdy Glass Workshop produced contemporary glassware with an accent on color. Resident designer Pauline Solven achieved international recognition for her own studio glass work, and her production designs received Britain's Design Council Award. Cowdy's glassblowers fashioned the molten glass by combining the traditional skills of the glassmaker with the new techniques of studio glass. Each piece is made and fully finished while it is hot producing a very strong rim resistant to chipping. Estimate $20-200 Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
