Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn (Dutch, 1606-1669) Peter and John Healing the Cripple at the Gate of the Temple, 1659, a late 18th or early 19th century impression (Bartsch/Hollstein, 94iv/iv). Signed and dated in the plate. Etching on laid paper, plate size 7 1/8 x 8 1/2 in. (18.0 x 21.5 cm), unmatted, unframed. Condition: Margins 1/8 inch or more with ink (especially to right margin), a minute nick to both the left and lower margin, old glue/hinge residue, stains, and pencil annotations to verso. Estimate $500-700 The sheet measures 7 1/2 x 8 5/8 inches. There are old hinged near the upper corners verso plus glue/residue to edges also on verso. There are minute nicks to the edges. The largest of these is a 3/8 in tear to the left of the right-hand hinge. This tear just goes into the image. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
