George Balmer (British, 1806-1846) Newcastle on Tyne Unsigned, identified on a presentation plaque, ascribed on a gummed label affixed to stretcher. Oil on canvas mounted to board, 17 1/4 x 24 in. (43.8 x 61.0 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, craquelure, minor varnish discoloration and surface grime, minor scattered surface accretions. Estimate $2,000-2,500 Framed dimensions are 21 1/2 x 28 x 1 1/2 inches. Some pigment fluorescence in the lower left corner in the net and surrounding ground around the standing man. Some broadly brushed retouch to the sky more concentrated in the clouds along the horizon line. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
