Jean Jansem (French/Armenian, 1920-2013) Two Girls Signed "Jansem" u. r., inscribed "2726 Le Mende" in pencil on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 18 1/4 x 15 in. (46.4 x 38.1 cm), framed. Condition: Craquelure, minor surface grime. Estimate $4,000-5,000 Stable craquelure and drying cracks around the head of the figures and the hands of the figure on the left. A line of craquelure in the skirt of figure on the right. Under UV one can detect areas of uneven varnish which are inconsequential. There is a pencil inscription on the stretcher which includes a number and, possibly, the suggestion of a title or place, "2,726 Le Mende." Framed dimensions are 28 x 24 3/8 x 1 3/4 inches.
