Six Wedgwood Jasper Items, England, 19th and 20th century, five with applied white relief: a black dip coffee can and saucer with trophies and medallions within fruiting festoons, saucer dia. 5 1/4, a lilac dip tall jug with classical figures and hinged silver-plated cover, rim ht. 6 1/2, an olive green cylindrical mug with verse "No man dies ill That livith well," ht. 5 1/4, an oval light green dip plaque with depiction of Charlotte at the Tomb of Werther, lg. 5, and an Easter egg form made for the Russian market with depiction of Christ on one side and Cyrillic on the reverse, ht. 3; and a barrel-shaped white jasper jug with applied green relief, ht. 5 1/2 in.; impressed marks. Provenance: Black cup and saucer reportedly a gift from William Gladstone, Prime Minister of Great Britain, to the granddaughter of Queen Victoria, Princess Frederica Wilhelmina Amelia Louisa Victoria, on the occasion of her sixth birthday. Formerly in the collection of John Douglas Southerland, 9th Duke of Argyll. The property of Jeffrey Milkins. Estimate $700-900 White with green jug: Slight nicks along edge of spout. All else in very good condition throughout with no evidence of any cracks, chips or restorations. The "egg" is unmarked. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
