Pair of Grand Tour Regency-style Bronze Colza-oil Rhyton Lamps, probably England, late 19th century in the manner of Thomas Messenger, each boar-headed base with a later electric candle, two sockets, fabric shade with adjustable holder, unmarked, approx. ht. 18 1/2, rhyton ht. 7 1/4, wd. 10, dp. 5 in. Note: Derived from a rhyton illustrated in Piranesi's Vasi, Candelabri Cippi, Sarcofagi, Tripodi Lucerne ed ornamenti antichi. Estimate $800-1,200 Wear to patina, shades sunned.
