Yellow-glazed Dish, China, Ming dynasty, the shallow, rounded sides rising from a short tapering foot to a flaring rim, the rich egg-yolk color glaze thinning toward the rim, six-character Jiajing mark within a double ring in underglaze blue on the base, dia. 8 3/4 in. Provenance: The collection of a New England gentleman. Estimate $5,000-7,000 one-inch hairline crack to mouth rim, surface wear with scratches particularly to the interior, potting flaws to foot rim, minor glazing flaws with pockmarks.
