English, c. 1800. "Report (1800) from the Select Committee upon the Improvement of the Port of London", engraving after James Basire (English, 1730-1802). Engraving depicts a front view of "Design for a Stone Bridge to admit shipping to pass under its center arch, with views of the proposed embankments and fireproof warehouses above them", as inscribed on the lower right of the print. Engraving is Plate III of a large folio that was published in London in 1800 and 1803, as inscribed lower center "Ordered by the House of Commons to be printed 28th July 1800 -- and to be reprinted 1803". Inscribed lower right "James Basire, Sculp; Luke Hanserd & Sons, Printers". Framed 28.5" x 43", unframed sight size 16.25" x 30.5"._x000D_
