Cheesebox Canteen, c. early 19th century, black canteen with red "U.S." painted over "M.S.," carved initials on the back, with leather sling keepers and a corncob plug, dia. 7 1/8 in. Provenance: The collection of Nicholas A. Penachio. Estimate $300-500 in good condition with small wood loss on the back.
