Confederate Soldier Art, c. 1861-64, rectangular flat bone marked on one side "John.M. Rikard, Co G/13th/S.C.V./McGowans/Brigade,/Wilcox. Division./HillsCorps/General. Lee.s, Army," and on the opposite side "MechanicsVille/Cold Harbor/Fraziers Farm/2 Manassas/OX Hill/Harpers Ferry/Sharpsburg/Fredericksburg/Chancelorsville/Gettysburg," all filled with red ink, ht. 1 1/16, wd. 1 3/8 in. Provenance: The collection of Nicholas A. Penachio. Note: Private John M. Rikard enlisted on August 26, 1861 for the war. He served through all of the major campaigns of the Army of Northern Virginia, and was killed May 12, 1864 at Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia while fighting near the Bloody Angle. Estimate $700-900 Some very light staining on the bone but in overall very good condition.
