John Taylor Gilt Cartel Clock, London, c. 1765, the giltwood case topped with bell-accented pagoda over a glazed brass bezel, silvered roman numeral dial signed "John Taylor, London" with false pendulum aperture, pierced, blued-steel hands, silvered Fahrenheit temperature scale with alcohol tube flanked by freestanding columns, eight-day fusee movement with A-shaped plates and crown wheel escapement, all regulated by a short pendulum, ht. 52 in. Estimate $3,500-4,500 Some cracking of gesso. Rear access panel replaced. No winding key.
