Striking Japanese Shaku Dokei or Pillar Clock, traditional-style wood case with glazed hood and key drawer, the trunk with pierced wood sound frets inset into the sides and time scale with movable hour and half-hour markers attached to the front, brass movement with turned pillars at corners, pierced and floral engraved front plate with verge escapement regulated by a top-mounted balance wheel, the crown wheel fit with a small hand to indicate running of the clock, spring-powered striking mechanism in the trunk, housed in a brass case, acts as the weight to power the time movement, ht. 18 1/2 in.
