Edward Antoon Portielje (Belgian, 1861-1949) A Pause in the Afternoon's Sewing Signed "Edward Portielje. " l.l., impressed "PORTIELJE" on a red wax stamp on the reverse. Oil on panel, 18 x 14 5/8 in. (45.7 x 37.2 cm), framed. Condition: Minor paint loss, fine craquelure. Estimate $4,000-6,000 The two pinpoint sized paint losses are located in the upper right quadrant in the dark area in the windows above the head of the woman on the right. The craquelure is very fine and stable. Framed dimensions are 29 1/2 x 26 1/2 inches.
