Francis Hopkinson Smith (American, 1838-1915) Cottages and Sun-dappled Path Signed "F. Hopkinson Smith" l.l. Gouache, watercolor, and charcoal on paper/board, sight size 21 1/4 x 29 1/4 in. (54.0 x 74.3 cm), framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame. Estimate $800-1,200 Small area of craquelure with paint loss and flaking located center left in the side of the cottage, located 8 1/2 inches in from the left edge and 9 1/2 inches down from top, with a smaller loss located to the left in the pink blossom in the court yard seen through the gate. Frame is old, perhaps period, with heavy paperboard backing and the shadow of a former presentation plaque on the front.
