Cane Carved at Andersonville, c. 1864-65, cane with a carved head on the handle, a tag attached marked on one side "Cane carved/at Andersonville/prison (infamous/Confederate prison/(in So. Carolina?)/during the Civil War." and on the other "formerly property/of Wm. J/Christian (Opy's/maternal grandfather/and Civil War veteran.," with alligators on the shaft, a bottle, cup, and a snake, with a brass and steel finial, overall lg. 37 in. Provenance: By family descent to the consignor. Estimate $400-600 Cane is in overall good condition with some wear from use.
