Simon Willard & Son No. 4449 Patent Timepiece or "Banjo" Clock, c. 1832, mahogany case with half-round moldings encasing the reverse-painted glasses, painted roman numeral dial signed "Simon Willard & Son/No 4449," eight-day brass T-bridge movement, interior paper label inked "This Clock Was Bought 1832 for $14 by Jos. Grin(?)... and J.E. Williams (?)... in Boston," lg. 29 in. Estimate $500-700 new bottom board and glasses, movement appears to have been recently polished along with the pendulum bob.
