George I Britannia Standard Silver Chocolate Pot, London, 1717-18, indistinct maker's mark possibly "_D(L)," with a hinged finial and wood handle, ht. 9 1/2 in., approx. 23.1 troy oz. Estimate $3,000-5,000 Finial unmarked, lid bearing only worn Britannia mark. Light surface abrasions, finial with shallow dent (where it hits thumb-piece when opening), spout worn with possibly professional restoration to mouth. Otherwise in good condition with no evidence of engraving removal.
