Overall work appears to be in very good and stable condition. In 2000 this work was expertly restored by the Chicago Conservation Center. The work was cleaned, lined, re-stretched and with Maimieri retouching and an application of Winton varnish. There is a card documenting the restoration to the verso. The inpainting is only visible under UV light and is concentrated to the edges of painting and four localized areas; just above the figure’s hat, the upper right corner, the right side of the canvas at the midpoint and immediately below the signature. The largest of these areas is a line to the upper right quadrant and measures 4 inches by ¼ inch. Photographs available on request. Work is presently unframed. Signed 'Elvgren'. 1947
