The work is in good condition. Under blacklight inspection three small areas of inpainting appear in the snow on the lower left. The work would benefit from a very light cleaning and varnish, especially. Two gallery labels adhered to the back, on the wooden stretcher and on the carboard backing. Partially hidden beneath the cardboard is an inscription, written in graphite, which reads: “This picture was signed (below) by Hallowell during his last illness of March 1926”. The canvas is taught to the stretcher. The painting presents well in a later frame.
