Elliott, Mary H. (fl. circa 1877) Connecticut River Sailing Journal 1877, with Drawings. Quarto format lined notebook, approximately forty-five leaves, containing accounts of several week-long sailing cruises along the Connecticut River, the first part entitled, Long Book of the Betsy Baker -cat rigged sailboat- from Black Point to Springfield , the Captain on this voyage was one M.D. Allen, "also Commodore, commissioned by New Orleans's carnival committee, Jan. 5th, 1876, per order of the King of the Carnival," crew: Mary E. Allen and Mary H. Elliott, Rover Allen, "first class passenger"; each written in a chatty and humorous style; a trip to Cape Cod of the "Sans Souci Club -(no bother)" is also described; with seven pages of pencil drawings of houses and other buildings at the end, contemporary half red leather, 7 3/4 x 6 1/2 in.
