Wonder Box. New Haven: Petrie & Lewis (P&L), ca. 1940 [?]. A quantity of silks is produced from a mirrored box (3 ¼ x 2 x 2") shown empty on all sides. With a "modernistic" crackle finish. Very good. An unauthorized version of this popular trick first produced by L. Davenport & Co. of London, England. Two examples of the P&L model with a virtually identical crackle finish are known.
