"Earl of Bordeaux" Gilt Shelf Clock, France, c. 1840, heavily ornate case with two doves atop the central pillar with 3 1/2-in. dia. roman numeral dial, lower frieze depicting a maiden with several chickens feeding, the Duchesse de Berry is shown with the Duke of Bordeaux in her arms, a sibling kneeling in prayer before her with a cradle in background, lower frieze showing a scholar teaching the newborn child in several educational pursuits, all resting on four cast brass swans feeding cygnets, eight-day time and count wheel strike mechanism with silk thread suspension, ht. 18 in.
