Prosper Roussel Patinated and Gilt-bronze Jewel Casket, France, second quarter 19th century, rectangular form with domed and hinged cover, bail handle with armor, helmet, and shield supported by dragons, the cover set with two central portrait medallions purported to depict King Henri VIII and Charles de Angouleme, each flanked by panels of shields above an arabesque floral border, the box with figures of guards at each corner and lion mask supports to side handles, the box front with two square panels with depictions of warriors on horseback, an attendant at their side, the reverse with a rectangular panel with battle scene, all set on an elaborately scrolled base, inscribed "Prosper Roussel Place Vendome 24," lg. 9 1/2, dp. 6 1/2, top of handle ht. 9 1/2 in.
