The Van Swietens have darkened areas of text from the ink. Chipping to tips of some spines. Some engravings within. The Bagno volumes are tight and sound, with black tap on two volumes, light, vertical tidal lines to two fore-edges. Hermann Boerhaave was the first great clinical teacher of medicine. He revolutionized the teaching of medicine. Van Swieten was Boerhaave's pupil before he became the personal physician to the Austrian Empress.
