Lithograph with hand-coloring. Framed and matted. A common event in the 19th century, steamboat races were celebrated with published illustrations documenting the events. This work differs from others by Currier & Ives as raftsmen are depicted on the sidelines cheering for the boats. Townspeople would often watch and gamble on the races as a form of entertainment.
