Evelyn Metzger (American, 1911-2007) oil on masonite; signed to lower right and dated '68; possibly depicting a portrait of a young African women. The book that accompanies the painting is "The Age of Grandeur And A Woman Who Lived It: Artist Evelyn Metzger". It is a hard bound book that covers both her social life and her artistic appreciation and contributions, examining her formal studies of art history at Vassar, her flexibility and travels, and her portraits. Artwork measures approximately 23-34" in height by 20" in width unframed and the book measures approximately 11-15/16" x 9-1/2"; painting in good overall condition with very slight wear to edges and book in original shrink wrap from the publisher.
