Chinese, 18th Century. Similar pair of Chinese Export Famille Rose 'Mandarin' palette centerpiece or punch bowls, Qianlong (1736-1795). Both finely painted on an iron-red Y-pattern ground, the interior rim with scroll border issuing leaves, butterflies and cell-pattern interrupted by cartouches of flowers. The interior center on the larger bowl decorated with a urn of flowers within a continuous floral scroll border, the smaller bowl inerior center with figures. Both on rosewood stands. Large bowl height 4.9", mouth diameter 11.4", base diameter 5.75", the smaller bowl height 4.4", mouth diameter 10.15", base diameter 5.25".
