Sold for:
$2,375

19th century in two parts, the flat-top superstructure with a molded cornice over two short and four graduated long drawers, the base with one long drawer over three short drawers, the whole raised on cabriole legs. Height 73 1/2 x width 40 x depth 21 inches. Property from the Estate of Nadine P. Martens, Glen Ellyn, Illinois Very attractive condition overall. Older but likely not original finish. Scratches, old marks, discolorations and surface wear consistent with age. Tight age cracks to the sides and some drawer interiors. Older signs of worming throughout all sides. Legs are very dirty and darkened at tops of knees, so it is likely that they are original. One rear leg is loosened and very weak, so the highboy does not stand easily on its own; it is presently supported against a wall with a wood cleat attached to the wall. Leg will need repair before the highboy can stand sturdily on its own. One brass handle is upside down. Handles show signs of age but may not be original. Upper section and lower section do not appear to be a marriage.
