18th century depicting a courtier with a dog at his feet before a flowering tree, raised on a naturalistic base with rocaille and gilt highlights, signed lon in iron red to the underside. Height 7 1/8 inches. Property from the Collection of Caroline Carter, Wilmette, Illinois In decent condition consistent with age. Scattered chips and areas of loss to the encrusted flowers and leaves. Minor instances of discoloration and rubbing to glaze consistent with age. Minor chip to the tip of the figure's hat and to the edge of the base at the front. Examination under UV light reveals very minor area of retouch to the figure's proper-right hand.
