George Wickes, London, 1743 each having a banded candle cup surmounting a knopped and banded stem with acanthus decoration, raised on a quatrefoil foot. marked on underside 36 ozt 3 dwts Height 8 1/2 inches. Property from the Collection of Dr. and Mrs. Jack Durell, McLean, Virginia Candlesticks in overall good condition. Light to moderate surface scratching throughout consistent with polishing and use. Feet bent slightly out of round, stable but does not sit flush to a flat surface. One candlestick with bright-cut 'No. 3' on underside, corresponding bobeche with 'No. 3' also engraved on exterior, other candlestick with bright-cut 'No. 1' on underside with corresponding bobeche engraved 'No. 4'. Both bobeches resized and apparently unmarked.
