late 19th/early 20th century of baluster form, the body with foliate handles and painted to show a titled figural scene on each side against a pale yellow ground with gilt decoration, raised on a circular foot, the underside bearing a beehive mark. Height 20 1/2 inches. Property from the Collection of Rhoda Rosenthal, Chicago, Illinois In overall good, stable and complete condition without chips or cracks. Gilt metal cover is later. Each painted reserve signed Knoeller. Scattered areas of rubbing and loss to the gilt highlights, along with light surface scratches throughout. Instance of minute surface loss to one of the painted reserves. Light shelf wear to the foot rim consistent with age. Examination under UV light reveals no evidence of repair.
