English, circa 1820. An early and rare Staffordshire pearlware commemorative pitcher or jug decorated with a military theme on colored silver lustre and sprinkled with white florets, the shaped mug having deeply molded portraits decorated in the round featuring Lord Wellington and General Hill. Each portrait is titled below and separated by colorful flags. Apparently not marked but documented in "The Connoisseur - An Illustrated Magazine For Collectors", Vol. IX. (May-August, 1904), Published by Otto Limited, Carmelite House, Carmellite Street, E.C., page 154. Approximate height 6.37".
