Circle of Jonas Zeuner (Dutch, 1727-1814). A group of two verre églomisé, or reverse painted, seascape paintings, each apparently unsigned, one depicting a raging sea battle, the other depicting a serene Dutch coastal scene with fishermen and windmill. Battle scene framed approximately 9.125" x 11.25". Coastal scene framed approximately 9.25" x 11.5".Provenance: Property from the Estate of Mr. John L. Roper II, Former Owner and CEO of NORSHIPCO (Norfolk Shipbuilding and Drydock Corporation), of Norfolk, Virginia. Mr. Roper collected a number of fine American antiques and art including a noteworthy early American coin collection that sold at auction in 2014.
