French, 19th century. A morbier or comtoise long case clock having a grain painted pine case with a flat cornice molded top over a glazed door opening to the 9" white painted and enameled dial with Roman numerals, inscribed under the twelfth marker "Bailly Rouchon" and "a Maringues" above the six within an elaborately stamped brass foliate surround. The trunk in typical violin shape form housing the shaped iron and brass lyre shaped pendulum. The base centered with an oval cartouche containing a painted landscape. The whole decorated with incised and floral meander. Approximate height 85", width 22", depth 10.5" (hood).
