American, late 19th century. A carved and polychromed wooden carousel horse depicting leaping with front two legs curled back and off the ground, supported at front by painted iron supports, the brown horse with white saddle blanket and blue saddle, white tail and hooves, and a red painted bridle, with many layers of underpaint showing in some areas due to wear. Apparently unmarked. Accompanied with auction value estimation from 1989 from Plantation Galleries, Coconut Grove, Florida prepared by ISA appraiser Diana Peters. Approximate height 48", width 8.25" depth 41".
