Continental, mid to late 19th century. A pair of his and hers Renaissance Revival ebonized wood tall back hall chairs, each with a highly pierced and scrolled splat with barley twist stiles and a carved crest, hers with a female face, and his with a male face and arms with spaniel handholds, with barley twist front legs and a turned H-stretcher. Approximate height (of his) 54.25", width 26", seat depth 20", seat to floor 19".
