"Cookbook writing flourished in mid-18th century France, Menon, a proponent of 'la cuisine moderne' over 'la cuisine ancienne' was the most productive and influential of French culinary authors of the time. His cookbooks were published in multiple editions, in various languages, in Europe and England, yet no biographical information has surfaced about his life."
