Catherine the Great of Russia (1729-1796) Secretarial Letter Signed, 13 May 1791. Single page letter written on laid quarto-format bifolium. To an unnamed Admiral Prince of Passau, placing him under orders of the Tobolski regiment, and authorizing him to arm the fleet. Text in Russian, old folds, some slight discoloration, generally good, 9 x 7 1/2 in.; accompanied by a contemporary French translation, corners trimmed away diagonally (somewhat irregularly), edge toning, 5 1/2 x 7 3/4 in.
