Thomas Chambers (New York/England, 1808-1869) American Shore Scene, Possibly a Nahant, Massachusetts, View Unsigned. Oil on canvas, the small central vessel flying an American flag below a cliff with buildings, a sandy shore and sailing vessels beyond, all under a dramatic sunset sky, 22 1/4 x 30 in., in a gilt-gesso frame. Condition: Relined, scattered inpainting especially to sky, stable craquelure. Provenance: Vose Galleries, Boston, label on the reverse.
