James Ayme Walnut Veneered Longcase Clock, London, movement/dial c. 1725, case 20th century, the flat-top case surmounting the square glazed door over the composite brass dial flanked by engaged barley-twist columns, the 11-in. dial with silvered roman numeral chapter ring signed at the lower edge James Ayme/Londini , matted center with recessed date dial and seconds chapter ring with arabic numerals, winding arbors with decorative filed ends, pierced blued steel hands, and cast brass spandrels, walnut veneered rectangular waist door trimmed with herringbone inlay and pontil mounted for pendulum viewing, the base with central field and wide banding all on a single-stage molding, eight-day time and hour-strike movement with recoil escapement, count wheel mounted to strike great wheel, five ringed pillars with fifth pillar latched, all mounted to a seating board, powered by two brass-cased weights and regulated by a seconds beating pendulum, ht. 80 in.
