Embroidered Altar Hanging, China, possibly 17th/18th century, depicting a five-clawed dragon chasing a flaming pearl, amongst ruyi -shaped cloud formations and above a border of crashing waves and earth, with five gold peonies over the waves below and surrounded by the "Eight Daoist Emblems" and a bat holding two coins in its mouth, the dragon embroidered in couched gold threads with satin-stitch details over floral silk brocade, in a silk covered frame, 34 x 55 in.
