American, late 19th/early 20th century. A monumental Gilded Age style over-mantle, polychromed in brown, having a molded cornice top with painted gilt accents, over a frieze decorated with gilt bellflower swags accented with ribbons, supported on each side by paired columns, each topped with a gilt scaled patera block with a gilt capital atop a textured column with a stylized tulip base, flanking a central mirror, surrounded by a wide gilt border and accented with bellflower swags. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 66", width 107", depth 10".
