of rectangular form with rounded corners, lacquered in takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, kirikane, the front of the cover decorated with a flowering prunus tree amongst rockery and leafy plants, the reverse with maple leaves, the interior set with a removable implement tray centered by a rectangular inkstone beneath a silver water dropper, mizuire; the large document box of rectangular form, decorated similarly. Height of largest 6 1/2 x width 12 1/2 x depth 16 inches. Two boxes in very good condition with no apparent chips, losses of lacquer, cracks or restoration. The inkstone with some surface scratches.
