HAND-PAINTED MODEL SHIP, H 26", W 30", 'THE LUCIA R. SIMPSON': Three masted, with a fixed pedestal base. A lumber schooner which plied the Great Lakes, the LUCIA SIMPSON was one of the last sailing ships on Lake Michigan. She had a shallow draft and a retractable centerboard to enter and leave shallow harbors around the Great Lakes.
