Twelve Apotheosis of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin Printed Textile Fragments, England, c. 1785-1800, red-printed on cotton, six fragments depicting George Washington with a figure of an Indian princess supporting a shield reading "AMERICA/INDEPEND/ANCE [ sic ]/1776 in a leopard-drawn chariot behind two Native Americans blowing trumpets, and six fragments depicting Benjamin Franklin and "Liberty" holding a banner reading "WHERE LIBERTY SWELLS THERE IS MY COUNTRY," with one other fragment from a different textile depicting a woman and cherub, (minor staining), approx. ht. to 21, wd. to 31 in.
