Classical Carved Mahogany Footstool, New England, c. 1880, the arched cresting centering a flower with flanking scrolls, acanthus leaves, and reeded panel, the slip seat with outward flaring ring-turned arms on reeded supports, joined by floral and foliate panel, reeded sides, and ripple-molded lower edge, (repairs), ht. 17, wd. 22, dp. 13 in. Note: The underside of seat with note reading "Hand carved by my great-grandfather- Ward Cotton Copeland. He was a wood carver and cabinetmaker by trade. Carved in 1821."
