Cherry and Birch Inlaid Oxbow Serpentine Bureau, probably New Hampshire, c. 1790, the shaped overhanging top above a cockbeaded case of four string-inlaid graduated drawers, all on carved ball-and-claw feet, original oval brasses, original red washed surface, (minor imperfections), ht. 35, wd. 41 1/4, dp. 19 1/2 in. Provenance: Winthrop Edwards Fiske, Mabel Cilley Fiske, Exeter, New Hampshire, to their daughter Judith Cogswell Fiske Gross. Mabel's daughter, Bradbury Longfellow Cilley, was the professor of classical languages at Phillips Exeter Academy.
