Shaker Soapstone Footwarmer with Cloth Cover, Canterbury, New Hampshire, late 19th/early 20th century, soapstone with brown striped twill covering, soft peach-colored twill flannel layer in between, machine-stitched fold-over hem with two handmade buttonholes, two buttons with light brown centers and dark rust-colored rims, (hole worn through where stone would rub the lining), lg. 12, wd. 6 1/2 in. Provenance: Acquired at Canterbury, New Hampshire, c. 1945, and was used by Erhart Muller the first year that he was married.
