English, Circa 1840. Pine and elm lift top blanket chest, mule chest or storage trunk with iron bail handles on each end, the interior lined with wall paper and mounted to one side with a drawer which is signed on the end and inside drawer mostly illegible, the exterior case is dovetailed on all corners, front case has bottom drawer with large wood pulls on turned feet. Height 28", width 37", depth 25". Provenance: Purchased from J. & A. Clegg, Antique Corner, 12 Old Street, Ludlow, Shropshire, June 19, 1989.
